Preservation Services
HFC has experience in historic property redevelopment and investments including knowledge of local, state, and national historic preservation incentives and the determination of historic building architectural and historical significance. We are well versed in conducting and administering comprehensive historic preservation surveys, in preparing historic architectural design guideline manuals, local historic preservation commission permit applications, and Local and National Register of Historic Places nominations.
Surveys
Comprehensive Architectural and Historical Surveys — Surveys include field work, photography, research, completing Florida Master Site File forms, public relations, e.g., attending meetings as needed, and final report preparation.
Redevelopment
Redevelopment of Historic Buildings — Opinions are provided on applying appropriate historic preservation methods and planning strategies, preparing economic incentive reports, evaluation and determination of historic and architectural significance of the building, preparing local, state, and national historic and architectural designation reports, preparing cultural resource assessment request letters for processing building permits and zoning applications, and preparing archival documentation of buildings.

Historic Preservation Grant Writing and/or Consultation — Including photography, research, and public relations.
Administration
Administration of Historic Preservation Grants and Grant Project Coordination — Completing grant administration reports as required under the grant rules.
Guidelines
Historic Preservation Design Guideline Manuals — Providing related historic building style information found within historic districts and preparing the rehabilitation recommendations.

Heritage Education
Accredited course work for educators in Leon County
The Power of Places: Visualizing History in Tallahassee and Leon County (prehistory -1940s): The course is based on the Teaching with Historic Places concept, developed by the National Park Service and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Class participants become more acquainted with the diverse history in their community by touring local historic buildings and sites, by hearing from knowledgeable guest speakers, and by receiving a packet with source information. The course work presented provides educators with information needed to develop lesson plans and field trips.
In-classroom Sessions
The session includes presenting an overview about the history of Tallahassee and Leon County using visual images of significant local historic resources.
Small Group Courses
Course work includes historic preservation planning for professionals and owners of historic properties.
